I’m Neil. I live in London, I come from Cornwall, and I don’t write enough.
This site started thanks to NaNoWriMo. I like the idea of NaNoWriMo, but it’s never really worked for me, since I am a) a perfectionist and b) far more a short-story writer than a novelist – either of these makes it hard to do 50,000 words in a month, both is a deal-breaker.
But I wanted to get into the spirit, so in 2012 I did one 100-word-story every day in November.
That went pretty well, and was more than I’d properly written in ages, so I decided to keep going. I put up this site and the Facebook page so people could watch and keep me honest. In theory I also want to put book reviews and other thoughts on the blog too. As of early 2014 that hasn’t really happened, but I do have over 200 stories, so the ‘keep me writing’ thing has done its job.
Other stuff:
I like card games and whisky and mythology and tailoring.
In real life I write advertising, and for that I am truly sorry.
I believe in music and craftsmanship and cats and the future.
So, that’s me. Pleased to meet you. Now tell me about yourself.
