This is about how this site collects and uses your information.
The legal stuff:
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By visiting and using the Site, you agree that your use of our Site, and any dispute over privacy, is governed by this Privacy Policy. Because the Web is an evolving medium, we may need to change our Privacy Policy at some point in the future, in which case we’ll post the changes to this Privacy Policy on this website and update the Effective Date of the policy to reflect the date of the changes. By continuing to use the Site after we post any such changes, you accept the Privacy Policy as modified.
Now, let’s try and explain exactly what’s going on here in words you don’t need 3 law degrees to understand.
First of all: it uses cookies. I’m trying out Facebook and web retargeting, which basically means if you come to this site, you might see adverts for my book around the internet.
You can, of course, opt-out of this if you like. Just go here and follow the instructions:
https://www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/
There’s also some Google Analytics tracking, which tells me in aggregate where people are viewing this site from, their ISP and similar details. It doesn’t give me anything I can use to find out exactly who you are. I might know that you were here, but I won’t know anything specifically about you. It’s like you’re an internet ninja.
At no point am I going to give any of this information to third parties, unless there’s some legal reason I’m forced to. I have no idea what that kind of legal reason might be, but every Privacy Policy I’ve ever read makes this point, so I probably should too.
When you sign up to the e-mail list, your e-mail address will be stored so I can mail you when I write a new story. I won’t contact you via e-mail again if you unsubscribe, though you might still see ads on websites. Once again, obviously, I’m not going to give your e-mail address to anyone. It stays locked in my AWeber account.
So… I think that covers everything? If you’ve got any questions, you can e-mail me at stories@neilmurton.co.uk.
Seriously, I’m not trying to be evil. I just want to be able to keep in touch.
